MESSAGE FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF CO-OPERATIVES
& FRIENDLY SOCIETIES
(MINISTRY OF INDUSTRY, INVESTMENT AND
COMMERCE)
The year 2007 is a significant
reference point in the life of
City of
Kingston Co-operative Credit Union Limited (COK), a
giant in the Co-operative Movement. The 40th Anniversary
Celebration has been celebrated with a series of events
including public forum, banquet, and awards ceremony for
volunteers and staff who have given stalwart services to the
Credit Union for ten (10) years and more.
As we come to the closure of the celebration let me hope
that the creativity in the services and the excellent
marketing strategies of COK has allowed many or our eligible
citizens to have embraced the Credit Union as their “One
Stop Financial Institution”.
Let me reinforce as stated in my 40th Anniversary Message to
the 2006 Annual General Meeting. The Management and staff
must equip themselves to undertake the challenges to
function with increased efficiency and effectiveness within
the new paradigm, international, regional and national
trends, whilst being cognizant of the proposed Bank of
Jamaica Credit Unions’ Regulations.
I implore members, volunteers, management and staff to bask
in the glory of the accolades bestowed on COK at this time,
and use the positive energy so generated to enhance their
strategic vision as they chart the course of the Credit
Union for another 40 years. May COK continue to be the
trailblazer of the Movement in transforming itself to
enhance the profile and fulfillment of expectations within
the Sector.
Congratulation COK for all your achievements.
