The Development Section’s principal responsibility is for the training, promotion, development and research activities for the Co-operative and Friendly Societies Movements.

Hence the section seeks to satisfy the following:

• To facilitate the registration of viable economic entities as Co-operatives, and socially acceptable entities as Friendly Societies

• To liaise with government and non-government agencies in designing and implementing programmes aimed at poverty alleviation and economic empowerment

• To facilitate the setting up of income generating projects particularly for women and youths

• To facilitate the development of Co-operative type businesses with special reference to ventures geared towards export orientation and/or import substitution

• Institutional Strengthening and Development of Groups and Societies
